About Jojo

Joseph "Jojo" Rosal is a nationally competitive compound archer and member of the 2026 USA U18 Archery Team, currently ranked #5 in the U18 National standings. Competing across indoor, outdoor, 3D, and international formats, Jojo has built a résumé defined by precision under pressure and consistent improvement — all while maintaining strong academic standing at Gilroy High School.

Off the line, Jojo leads with character and community. He has played on the GHS football team since 9th grade, serves as Vice President of the Asian Pacific Islander Club, and has volunteered with Gilroy's Youth in Philanthropy since 6th grade. In 2025, he joined the Red Cross Youth Leadership Development program — and when he's not competing or serving, he's on the golf course pursuing his next challenge.

International Competition

Competing on the World Stage

International archery competition requires more than a high score. It demands adaptability, composure under unfamiliar conditions, and the ability to perform against athletes from elite national programs around the world. Jojo has competed internationally at events in Nîmes, France and Mérida, Mexico — two of the most prominent venues on the junior international circuit.

Nîmes, France

The Nîmes Archery Tournament is one of the largest and most prestigious indoor archery events in the world, held annually in the Nîmes Arena. Competing here placed Jojo among an elite international field and tested his technical consistency on a global stage.

Mérida, Mexico

Competition in Mérida provided experience in international outdoor formats, adapting to new conditions, and navigating cross-cultural competition environments — skills that reflect maturity, independence, and global awareness beyond what most junior athletes develop.

International competition taught me that no matter where you compete, the fundamentals remain the same — but your ability to stay calm and trust your process under entirely new conditions is what separates a good archer from a great competitor.

Why Sports Medicine?

Jojo's passion for sports medicine was sparked during his soccer career. As a goalkeeper for the U16 Sentinels, he was part of a team that competed in and won the MLS State Competition — but during that time, he suffered multiple concussions. That experience gave him a personal and deeply felt understanding of athlete health, safety, and recovery.

That journey — from injured athlete to nationally ranked competitor — shaped his commitment to sports medicine, so he can one day support other athletes the way he wished he had been supported. He intends to pursue a degree in Kinesiology or Sports Science with a pre-health track, with the goal of becoming a physical therapist or sports medicine professional focused on athlete health and safety.
